Single path signalling
Speech or text diallers (low level risks)
Speech or text diallers are devices designed to transmit a pre-recorded message to four telephone numbers of your choice upon activation of your alarm system.
- no annual monitoring fees
- can transmit on a landline or a mobile phone network
- cannot be used to communicate directly with the police
- may be prevented from signalling if your telephone landline is cut or engaged
- may not be acceptable to some insurers
Digital communicators (low level risks)
Digital communicators are designed to transmit a coded signal to a 24-hour manned alarm receiving centre (ARC) via your landline.
- transmits standard alarm activations to the ARC for action
- may be prevented from signalling if your telephone landline is cut or engaged
- may not be acceptable to some insurers for certain risks
BT RedCare Classic (medium to high level risks)
BT RedCare is a signalling service provided by BT through Scan Alarms and the ARC.
- transmits standard alarm activations to the ARC for action
- notifies the ARC of your alarm landline being cut (i.e. a non-standard activation)
- works only on a BT line
Dual path signalling
BT RedCare GSM (medium to high level risks)
BT RedCare GSM is a signalling service provided by BT through Scan Alarms and the ARC.
- operates as BT RedCare Classic but with the added advantage that it is designed to continue to send transmissions to the ARC via the O2 GSM mobile phone network if the landline is cut
- works on a BT line and on the O2 GSM network
- following a line cut, the alarm may be re-armed and premises left secure.
BT Red Secure IP (medium to high level risks)
BT Red Secure IP is a service provided by BT through Scan Alarms and the ARC.
- has a primary signalling path via broadband (either as a direct connection or via a LAN/WAN)
- has a secondary signalling path (a ‘backup’) via the O2 GPRS mobile phone network
- a roaming SIM is available to enable the system to use other mobile networks where the O2 signal is weak
- does not require a dedicated telephone line
- following a line cut, the alarm may be re-armed and premises left secure
Dualcom (medium to high level risks)
Dualcom is a signalling service provided by CSL Ltd through Scan Alarms and the ARC.
- has a primary signalling path via the Vodafone GPRS mobile network with via Vodafone GSM and a telephone landline
- a ‘world SIM’ is available to allow the system to roam across other mobile networks where the Vodafone signal is weak
- will work on non-BT landlines
- following a line cut, the alarm may be re-armed and premises left secure.
Emizon (medium to high level risks)
Emizon is a service provided by Emizon Networks Ltd through Scan Alarms and the ARC.
- has a primary signalling path via broadband (either as a direct connection or via a LAN/WAN)
- has a secondary signalling path (a ‘backup’) via the GPRS mobile phone network
- is capable of roaming across various mobile phone networks to achieve best coverage
- does not require a dedicated telephone line
- following a line cut, the alarm may be re-armed and premises left secure.
