| PTZ | Pan Tilt and Zoom: used to describe the functions of a remotely controlled camera |
| URN | Unique Reference Number: issued by the PSNI to a premises which has a ‘police calling’ alarm system. Anyone writing to the Police about an alarm system must quote the URN which refers to the building in question |
| SIM | Subscriber Information Module: the card used to store identification and signalling data on a device designed to communicate on a mobile phone network |
| VOIP | Voice Over IP: transmitted via broadband or IP networks |
