Fire and Security Systems Design and Installation for GPS Colour Graphics:
Colour Graphics are a major local family run colour printing company who are arguably Ireland’s largest local family owned commercial printers. GPS can trace their history all the way back to a small print shop opened in Belfast’s High Street by Joseph Smith in 1797.
The business changed ownership and location on several occasions over the years including a period when its owner bequeathed the business to Queens University Belfast in her will.
Queens eventually sold the business to the Bell family in 1983 when they merged it with their business known until then as Graphic Printing Services. The newly merged businesses changed their trading name to GPS Colour Graphics and the new combined business continued to grow. This growth eventually led to the purchase of a 125,000 sq. ft factory in Marshalls Road Castlereagh in 2015 and following extensive refurbishment and customisation the business fully relocated to its new home in 2017.
Our solution:
Scan Alarms worked with the client and their M&E consultant to risk assess, design, install and commission new bespoke intruder alarm protection, IP HD CCTV surveillance and an analogue addressable fire detection system. Due to the nature of the business and the building layout, the fire detection system incorporates thirteen separate Wagner Titanus Pro-Sens aspirating smoke detection units to protect the factory and provide early warning of a fire. |
